As the dialogue deepens, a womb space is carved out, emptiness draws the outer perceptions inwards and a new paradigm emerges.

Her body transpired into the darkness that day. Her last breath grew wings: pulling the soul from beneath her bones to the next life. Grief births a visceral journey, which swells and tears the skin, spitting you out onto barren lands. There was death and it took me with it. ‘Within every woman there is a wild and natural creature, a powerful force, filled with good instincts, passionate creativity, and ageless knowing. Her name is Wild Woman, but she is an endangered species. The wildish nature comes to us at birth, society's attempt to "civilize" us into rigid roles has plundered this treasure, and muffled the deep, life-giving messages of our own souls. Without Wild Woman, we become over-domesticated, fearful, uncreative, trapped' (Clarissa Pinkola Estes). 

This new performance is the first few breaths of a new life, with a new voice, in new flesh. In ‘Lost Bodies’ artist Nicola Hunter (formerly Canavan) will be celebrating loss as a strengthening process, a metamorphosis and a return to the wild.

The ritual should have been simple... but there was so much he did not know, he had not observed it for so long, and now fear, coupled with a sense of obligation had led to an unexpected cry for help. After all you heard horror stories, heard of those moments when a vehicle died with no warning, at eighty mile an hour…out on the great tarmac. One moment hurtling forward, and then...nothing. Not a whisper, nor cough, taut pedals suddenly lifeless, pumping helplessly up and down. Coasting mockingly to a halt, never to move again' from 'The Driver' by Gordon Lang 1945

Tim Bromage presents a new performance scored for Tempting Failure. The work draws upon Greek mythology, in particular the practice of the Delphic Oracle. Combining a wide variety of disciplines, including music, prose and other activities, the work explores truth, fiction, and FATE. Its not all doom and gloom though, There's alternate realities, mind reading, and possibly even an appearance by Bobby Darin.

Fox will present a series of still images of babies that died pre-term, in-utero for TF2016.  These are beautiful bodies like tiny sea-shells. We do not readily see such things and push them to the back of consciousness and out of our recognition. These beings lived and died without being known. It is a calling to remember such lost beings, discarded and forgotten.

Fox is a punk buddhist artist who photographs, performs and writes about sex and death. Her first transgressive novel is entitled ‘The Visceral Tear’ and was published in November 2015 by Oneiros Books. Fox has exhibited globally in such notorious shows as ‘The Dead’, ‘Six Feet Under’, ’Flying Over Water’, ‘Encountering Corpses’ and features in a myriad of publications such as ‘Post Mortem’, ‘The New Invisibility of Death’, ‘Art & Obscenity’, ‘A Contemporary Western Book of the Dead’, ‘Pornographic Arts & the Aesthetics of Photography’ and ‘Transgressions , The Offences of Art’. Her art and philosophy are discussed in the Channel 4 series ‘Vile Bodies – Photography and the Crisis of Looking’ with Joel-Peter Witkin, Jenny Saville, Sally Mann and Andres Serrano; her works are presented in a Euro TV Arte documentary called ‘The Exposition of Death’ with Christian Boltanski and Gregor Schneider. Fox likes anything that is subversive and pushes the corporeal to its limits. Fox has performed with such artists as Ron Athey, David Hoyle, Michael Mayhew, Jeff Noon, Alexis Milne, Rosie (Lugosi) Garland, Paul Koudounaris, and Teresa Margolles. Fox is a Photography Lecturer and has been teaching since 2002 on the Film & Media B.A. Hons Degree at Manchester Metropolitan University.

As a lonely schoolboy Richard Herring wiled away many hours playing himself at snooker on a 6ft by 3ft table and providing his own commentary. As an adult he decided to recreate this battle for a podcast whose avowed aim was to continue until it no longer had any listeners. It started with 30,000 subscribers but over the years and approaching 100 frames that has dwindled to less than 5000 die hard fans, who are as determined to make Herring continue as he is to punish them with sports based tedium. It is a bold attempt to waste his own time and that of the people who listen to it, but it has much to say about the human condition: the tripartite (or more) nature of the soul, the battle for control over your own impulses, the ultimately unwinnable contest that is your own life, the pointless ways we try to fill our time and the fragile nature of our mental balance. The random nature of the cascading balls, plus the inadequacy of Herring as a player, commentator and referee add an improvisational element and means each frame is truly spontaneous. And the amazingly equal skills of the two main players (one a happy, if dull family man, the other a more volatile and unpredictable force) mean that the contest is usually incredibly tight.

Herring says, “This is not an art exhibition, but a genuine sporting contest. I am annoyed that I will be sharing my sporting arena with a load of pretentious artists, doing poos in bowls and making their genitals perform karaoke. Frankly they should all grow up. If they want real danger they should try playing snooker against themselves in a basement for five years and see how they come out of that. But at the moment the sporting authorities are trying to freeze out the whole sport of self-playing snooker, preferring to promote the clearly inferior two person version. So I am reluctantly taking the only stage that has thus been offered me, even if it is by people that I abhor."

Since 1980 the concept of hysteria as a medical condition has been obliterated by the contemporary mental health industry, and dismissed as a historical diagnosis conferred upon sexually frustrated females. Yet, hysteria is a powerful emotional state. Gendered madness and the heavily symbolic sound of the female scream tap into primal emotions and socially constructed responses, as well as providing personal catharsis for the individual experiencing a hysterical episode. Down with DSMIII! Long live the Demoniacs!

Nathaniel Wyrick utilises the use of objects to locate a history or placeness. Through this use of objects, he explores the connections between fragments of memory and image. Much of his sculptural and performative work is a process of the creation or re-creation of this fragmented imagery; he thinks about colour palettes, smells, sounds, and the seemingly choreographed task of a live action. All of this working together to trigger or create connections between the artist’s own personal history and that of the viewer. Nathaniel will place slip cast porcelain eggs into small jars one at a time. Eventually dissolving, cracking, and breaking, they will release their insides. Concurrently, he will be weaving a basket from start to finish. Once finished, the jars will be emptied by hand into the basket and the liquid will be consumed by the artist. Through these actions, the artist hopes to think and investigate ideas of birth, abortion, and gender roles through this year's provocation "In-Utero".

The Stringed Stirrups is literally walking on a vertical tightrope. I am playing two piano strings that are suspended from the ceiling, with me hanging in the lower end. The strings go through loops on a resonator that is tied around my chest. I give tension to the strings with my weight between the feet that stand in stirrups attached in the lower end of the strings. It is played with two bows and specially made wooden beaters. Sometimes the longitudinal vibrations of the strings are excited. It is amplified with a contact microphone.

Gillian moves through the space carefully setting several hundred conventional wooden mousetraps on the floor. Her hands and feet are bare and vulnerable being close to the trap mechanisms. She continues until she is backed into a corner. She then begins the process of skilfully moving through the set traps to exit the space.

Gillian and Adam aim to create a cumulative physical tension through the spring loaded traps and observe if it equates to a growing sense of emotional tension in anyone witnessing the piece – whether the repetition of a task that contains an inherent physical danger becomes more tense when performed repeatedly.

This marks the premiere of the full length version of this artwork.

There is a word in Portuguese that signifies a constant need for completeness, for wholeness: ‘saudade’. Untranslatable, the word alludes to living in a constant state of longing for what is now gone, a desire for presence as opposed to absence. We live in an ever shifting political and geographical landscape. As a generation that grew up into an open-doors Europe and the advances of the internet, we have been accustomed to travel, exchange, engage with and collaborate with people with different nationalities from us. The freedom of movement has allowed us to expand our knowledge of what ‘place’ and ‘borders’ mean. ‘Post’ is an exploration of what it means to be a migrant, of constantly inhabiting a ‘national limbo’ and failing to be adhering to border and identity-defining norms.

Untranslatable, the word alludes to living in a constant state of longing for what is now gone, a desire for presence as opposed to absence. We live in an ever shifting political and geographical landscape. As a generation that grew up into an open-doors Europe and the advances of the internet, we have been accustomed to travel, exchange, engage with and collaborate with people with different nationalities from us. The freedom of movement has allowed us to expand our knowledge of what ‘place’ and ‘borders’ mean. ‘Post’ is an exploration of what it means to be a migrant, of constantly inhabiting a ‘national limbo’ and failing to be adhering to border and identity-defining norms.

Extension: Off Land exists in the body's ability to host and birth whilst fighting against its actuality.
