TF18 - Biennial of International Performance Art & Noise

9th - 22nd July - Croydon, South London

A showcase of over 80 artists representing 22 different countries were represented in Croydon this July, each responding to the provocation of fractured bodies.

A multitude of events, performances, talks and outreach initiatives took place from April onwards culminating in a two week festival of celebration in July.

As we excitedly prepare our documentation to share with you soon we wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported us, from artists and audience to local businesses and venues. This year was a mammoth undertaking for us and we recognise the huge effort everyone has put in to make it all possible. Some of the highlights from the performance programme can be found in the schedule below but we also wanted to give a special mention to all of the other work that TF supports as part of its wider programme. This year we were thrilled to continue to offer free community events and working with Young Roots, MDX, Rita Marcalo and Mehmet Sander on this was a wonderfully enriching experience in both the respective sectors of Asylum Seekers and Mental Health. We were extremely grateful for the support and advice of Unlimited, SANE, and Bethlem Gallery in helping us to ensure our programme could support holistic performances and variety of accessibility options for audiences and artists, particularly supporting strategies for wellbeing and mental health care among all. TF continued our commitment to support four months of free mentoring to young artists, as well as a free professional development talks series and alongside Axisweb, Arts Admin, and LADA, we would like to say thank you to everyone that took part and shared their voices and experiences as a part of those. We also were very proud to institute paid production associate roles for the first time across the production team to enhance value and investment in all, empowering them to take away experiences to help grow their careers. While finally we were thrilled to continue our series of subsidised masterclasses this year in the wonderful facilities of MDX - open to all - right up to July.

The TF18 Festival took place in a host of local Croydon venues including Matthews Yard, The Front Room, Turf Projects, The Spread Eagle Theatre, Braithwaite Hall, David Lean Cinema, Project B and the Croydon Council Chamber and we thank them all for their support in welcoming both international & local artists and audiences. And lastly, we want to say thank you to you - if you are reading this and you engaged with our work in any way - we appreciate your time no matter how big or small it was.

It gives me so much pride to ensure that the festival will be exclusive to Croydon this year. Hosting such a wealth of local, national and international talent in my home town means a lot to me personally.
— Dr. Thomas John Bacon, Artistic Director
